Why is my cat suddenly weeing all over my house???

We have a lovely 1 year old female cat who is perfect in every way. Always been house trained and used her tray with ease. The last 3 months she has begun urinating all over the house in the most bizarre of places. These include inside my daughters shoes,on the window sill,on clothes,on the table etc. Why is she doing this of a sudden?? I am getting thoroughly fed up of finding things covered in very smelly cat wee!! In case you need to know she is an indoor cat and hasnt been spayed yet.Any advice would be welcome!!!

Reply:I HAD ALSO TAKE CARE AN INDOOR FEMALE CAT.BUT SHE DID NOT PEE ALL OVER MY HOUSE.I THINK BCOZ MAYBE I HAD TAKEN CARE HER WITH MY FULLEST ATTENTION.SO,MY ADVISE IS TO GIVE UR FULLEST ATTENTION TO UR CAT.IF SHE IS STILL THE SAME,MAYBE U BRING HER TO THE VET OR FIND OUT URSELF WHY.

Reply:you may need to change the litter more often my mothers cat wasnt spayed and she was a house cat we put the cat litter tray in the bath so if she finds her cat lit to used she now does it in the bath try it easy to clean and no more stinky house
Reply:make sure her litter tray is clean and nowhere near her food bowl.





otherwise it could be a sign of stress or illness. get her spayed and while you're there get the vet to check her out. you should be worried about her rather than annoyed
Reply:we changed our cats litter box to one of the enclosed type. and he started to wee on everything but in the litter box. changed it back to the old litter box and he stopped doing it. it could be ill or need to spayed.

Reply:1. Check her for a urinary tract infection. Female cats get them often, and they feel some discomfort urinating, they associate that to the litterbox, so they start urinating elsewhere. Take a sample of urine to have it analysed, or consult your vet about it.


2. Spay her. Perhaps this behaviour is due to the fact that her hormones tell her to mark her territory or to attract other cats to mate or something.


3. Either way, go to the vet. The urine analysis must be done as soon as possible, because apart from the discomfort she has, the infection can cause worse problems, but if she is treated early enough it is a simple matter.
Reply:maybe the litter box need a different solution in it for her to wee on, or mabe shes in heat.. in any case u should probably visit ure vet
Reply:has she gone into heat if she was in heat then she is spreading her scent around for male cats to find and if that is what it is then she not peeing. if your cat is declawed that could be another resaon. when the cat is declawed they tend to make a bad habit of peeing out side the litter box. make sure to clean her litter box often at least twice a day. new litter once a week. have the litter box within a good distance from her food and water. put vingar on the places she did pee to get the scent up so it wouldn't be there anymore.take your cat to the vet it might be a uti or something you don't even see.

Reply:Could be that there is a new cat in the area. They wee on things as a way of marking their territory. See if this is the case if so you may want to scare the other cat off

Reply:at one year old your cat should have been spayed by now go to the vets but it seems that could be the problem she could be marking her territory as well

Reply:If the litter tray is cleaned every day and she has been spayed she is probably sick. I had a cat that started to do this. I took her to the vet and tests showed she has an infection in her bladder. A course of treatment soon had her back on track and peeing in her litter box.
Reply:Cats are very teritorial and like to feel in control. Has anything changed since her change in behaviour ? New baby partner house pet etc ? She obviouslt feel threatened by someting so you need to find out what it is and if you can do somthing about it. Cats will eventually adapt to diffrent situations but there not happy about it for quite some time !!
