How long is too long to get an ingrown toenail looked at?

i've had an ingrown toenail for maybe 3 or 4 years now, i had one taken care up last year and it looks great now, my left big toe is ingrown on both sides. the right side the nail is pushing against the skin and it hurts putting on socks and shoes. on the left side of my toe theres like a bubble of skin, i'm not sure what it is, but i had it on my other toe before i got it taken care of. i clean it daily because after walking in school all day it has puss and sometimes blood. does anyone know how they would take care of a tonail ingrown on both sides? and if i've waited way too long to get this taken care of

its always best to get an ingrown toenail looked at right after you notice it because you will have a lot less complications. if you get to a doctor early, he can just remove a small portion of the nail, and there is very little aftercare. since you have waited this (and I know exactly what you are talking about, my dad did the same thing twice) you are probably going to have to have the entire nail removed. this means that the doctor will numb you with a shot in the toe before removal and you will have to maybe soak your toe in vinegar water and wear a bandage. you will also need to take antibiotics. the puss tells us that the toe is infected, and if you don't get it taken care, the infection can, and eventually will, get into your bloodstream, and you will get septicemia (bacteria in the bloodstream), go into septic shock, and probably die. Go and get it fixed tomorrow, they can do ingrown toenails at urgent care centers, its very quick and very inexpensive.
Reply:You need to have it looked at by a doctor if there is puss and blood.
