Do you have a friend that competes with you?

I do. Sad thing is she is supposed to be my "best friend" and is also living with me along with her husband and two kids. Whenever I I say that I want something she'll go out and get it first and whenever I get something she'll go out and get the exact same thing. She ALWAYS does this to me!For example, recently she went out and bought the exact same Puma (black and white) shoes that I have. I don't mind that she got them and I take it as a compliment that she likes my style. But what pissed me off is that she bragged and threw it in my face about how much less she paid for her shoes. That really got under my skin. Later,I went and bought some all suade (winter tan) Pumas at an outlet.....but had to return them because the colors were a bit off. I was sad because I really liked them and those were last of my size. Then she went out of town for a month and called me from Texas and said she found the all suade Pumas that "WE" wanted at the outlet store in Texas but were a size too big. She said she would call me to let me know if she would go back and she would get me a pair. Well, sure enough she came back into town with the Pumas and put up a front saying that she didn't want them but her husband surprised her and bought them for her. I thought that was shady of her. I told her if she didn't want them then to sell them to me...nope...she returned them still.

About a month ago my husband bought me a reversible coach purse....so Mother's day she asked her husband to buy her a Coach purse too...she had the nerve to get the exact same reversible purse like mine. Should I feel bad for being annoyed?

Yep I have a friend exactly like yours...

People like that do care about you but they're just jealous that you have an eye for style (like a trendsetter)

I wouldn't let her get to you. My friend has quit a little now that I show pretty much no expression and just gush along with her about her savings. They just want to faze you, don't even blink.

Don't feel bad, just feel proud that she's willing to follow you. The next time she brags just keep calm and cool and just gush along with her. =)
Reply:i had a very close friend and i always felt she was competing with me, like she was always trying to be better at everything than me.

eventually, we grew apart and found other friends who doesnt let their jealously get in the way of friendship
Reply:yea umm............

i wish that was the only thing i had to think about
Reply:Now that is just plain mean of your friend. I'm glad I don't have any friends like that. Maybe you should talk to her about it. And don't feel bad about being annoyed.
