Why do knees hurt after walking/jogging?

I've been mostly walking with some jogging, and now my knees started hurting after my last walk. It only hurts a lot when I go up and down the stairs in my houses. What's going on? I was wearing walking shoes and bought some gel insoles, I'm not running fast, just jogging -- I'm one to run out of breath very quickly. I went through the whole legs and ankles being sore bit, but that has gone away. And then out of nowhere, I wake up the next morning and my knees hurt. My legs aren't sore or anything, just pain in my knees. I decided not the go to the park over the weekend and lay in bed most of the time, but I'll start my routine during the weekdays again. If the pain persist, how long should I put off a doctors visit? Should I even go to the doctors?

Why do knees hurt after walking/jogging?
i'll be honest with you there can be a whole bunch of reasons why this is happening. Usually weight plays a big role in joing pain. If you have gained a few pounds here and there, it will affect your joints. Also, if you are at the age were arthritis is becomming a reality, you might want to get it checked out. Usually those are the common reasons. I think it would be best of you visit a doctor, orthopedic to be exact soon. Hope it gets better soon.
Reply:How about you rest your knees for awhile. Take it easy and take some glucosamine and omega 3 to help keep the joints in your knees well lubricated and may help with the pain you are experiancing.
Reply:the problem is maybe you haven't excercised alot lately because that's how you get cramps and in this case pain in your knee. you're just not used to running frequently
Reply:do you stretch out before you jog/walk? this may be the cause, make sure that you stretch all your body before you exercise. also, it could be the way you jog, perhaps try and find a joging style that isn't too hard on your knees, like don't run hard down a hill or something like that. i hope this helps =)
Reply:Since u run out of breath very quickly, u could b overweight which is one of the main reasons of pain in knees. If u r jogging on a hard surface, it stresses ur knees %26amp; ur back bone, causing pain. U must jog only on grassy surfaces. If u have injured ur knee recently, u may b having a torn ligament in the knee causing pain.

Do not put off seeing ur doc.
Reply:i get that it must be normal
Reply:i think u should go to the doctars and cheack it out
Reply:you might have a mild case of arthritis which is barely starting to develop.........try going to an orthopaedics doctor to get them checked
