Everytime i try to jog my calf muscle feels like its being torn apart.?

Hi everyone, I have been jogging for awhile but lately not even 10 minutes into my jog my calf muscle starts cramping and burning,i mean it hurts to the point of tears and then the pain last for days. Does anyone know why or what might be causing it? I use running shoes, i warm up first,i have never had any problems before. Since the first time it happen it seems like every time i try to jog now the pain comes back instantly. If anyone has any advice or anything about what to do to make it stop i would apprecitae it. I can't handle not being able to jog but i also can't handle the pain that i end up with just trying to jog any help would be appreciated!!

You have injured yourself from running too much.

Like it or not, you'll need to take a week off and let it heal properly. Cool water and aspirin should help a lot.

Your training program will then need to be be less strenuous; gaining strength is a matter of good planning, not running until you drop every day.

Go to http://www.runnersworld.com to find some training schedules that make sense for you. You're not the first person to run hard and you can prevent injuries like tis if you follow other people's experience.

Injuries are part of life for a runner; you have to find a way to cope with it so that you don't turn a minor injury into a major one.
Reply:Sounds like you have a case of shin-splints. You are doing everything correctly. Be sure to drink plenty of water and get massages, even if it is just yourself rubbing your calves and shins. Try jogging on a tredmil or clay track, something that is more cushy and less of an impact may help.

Good luck.
