Question for gay men or women with a high sense of fashion?

I just returned to the college life and I have been working in a factory for the last 8 years of my life and work was my life, so I lost all sense of fashion because I work with a lot of guys that don't care about it so it has rubbed off on me.

I am trying to break the cycle and know what is fashionable as in clothes, shoes, hair style. I realize that a lot of people would just tell me to be myself and dress how I normally would, however I am trying to make business contacts and my work clothes are not stylish or professional. So any help that you could give me would be much apppreciated.

Thank you

My advice is to hang out near the place where you want to make business contacts and/or just hang out in the mall near stores that sell the kind of clothes you think you should buy and just follow the crowd... for now.

Then, in a few months, you would have regained your sense of style and identity associated with said style and be able to maybe just accessorize more to fit your own personal taste
Reply:okay so here's my advice: go to the sites like banana republic, club monaco, united colors of beneton...look at stores like zara, etc and thats a sense of whats in style and works on "real women" not stick thin 7 ft tall models...wear clothes that are tailored and fit well...not skin tight or frumpy, you dont want to look like you borrowed a teens outfit or are 10 lbs heavier...get pieces that can be matched easily like a denim blazer, which you can wear to the office [depending how corporate your job is] with a pair of black trousers and a button down blouse with black heels..for the weekend you can throw it over a cami and a khaki skirt or khaki-colored corduroy skirt with brown knee length high heeled boots or flats...or to get a real idea of what works and doesnt, make up advice and watch it in video shows like TLC's "what not to wear," etc...like i said pieces you can mix and match so you can get a whole bunch of outfits from classic pieces...hope that helps...
