Don't you hate it when you are the last person to answer a question a here?

When you answer last, no one thumbs up you, no one bothers to read that far, and you are a shoe in for NOT getting the best answer because you are last! I hate that. Sometimes it just takes me a little longer to reply because I would like to be thorough and there are people that reply with one line and then go back and edit their reply just so they are first. Does anyone else feel this way?

Reply:Like Beth, I've often been chosen as BA, even from the last position. The advantage there (if it is not an opinion question) is that you see what everyone else has answered, perhaps wrongly or not fully enough -- and then can swoop in with the full, true information. So, it has its advantages, as well.
Reply:I've been chosen plenty of times as Best Answers even when I was the last. I've also chosen Best Answers that were last. It has nothing to do with position, but the quality of the answer.
Reply:Actually, I will sometimes skip over a bunch in the middle while going down to see what questions are at the bottom of the page, and will usually catch the last one.





Being stuck in the middle somewhere would probably suck more.
Reply:From experience I have found when I am last I often get a best answer, particularly if there are a lot of replies.
Reply:I have to hurry and answer this Q so I won't be the last one! lol . Actually, it doesn't bother me, since I figure the asker will read my answer and that's who matters. Except for P%26amp;S or questions with one simple answer, I think you still have a good shot at being best answer. Sometimes the people who answer quickly don't take time to really read the question or give a good answer. I'm last quite a bit since I'm slow getting things typed in, like now. ☺
Reply:Yeah it sucks, but that's the way things happen sometimes. Like when you are completely clueless why one of your answers got 4 low ratings. People are so sensitive.

It makes my day when the questioner and other answers respond to your answer, it makes me feel special. When you are the last, everyone has usually moved on. It's sad.

Reply:I'm usually last, because I leave new questions open for a while.

People DO read my answer; many choose mine as Best; people vote for my answer; I get thumbs up.





Before you answer, do a Refresh of the page, and read the other answers.





If what you have to say has already been said, don't bother; find another question.





If a lot of people have answered, and the answers go to page 2, there's a very good chance your answer won't be read.





But if there are a dozen or so answers, then yours probably WILL be read.
Reply:Absolutely. I read all the replys though and for every question I ask, unless I don't like the response, I give a thumbs up.
