Does drinking water help to stop swelling?

Does drinking water help to stop sweling on over seas flights or does it make you swell more , and the more you drink what does it do to you .

Last time l drank every thing that came near me and later l couldnt put my shoes on when the plane landed .l didn't get up at all to walk around or go to the toilet .

Does drinking water help to stop swelling?
Don't really know. Try not to drink too much after eating food. I read somewhere that it helps with reducing water retention. If you find that you have to sit in one place for a long time, start moving your feet up and down (if you can with out injuring yourself more), like your tapping your feet to music. By doing this, you are helping your legs get the blood that is settling in your feet back up to your heart and that should help with some of the swelling. Or try to put your feet up as much as possible, especially before the flight when its easier.
Reply:if you have problems with swelling on aeroplanes the best thing to do is keep mobile ,walking up and down the plane and when sitting rotating your ankles

drink water to keep you hydrated but not to excess and flight socks, also wear loose comfy shoes and if you do not need to take them of keep them on
Reply:If you are having this problem you should be checked by your doctor to see if you have problems with the circulation in your legs. This is a sign of varicose veins ( which can be deep inside your legs and not visible) or insufficient / damaged valves in your legs. You are at risk of having blood clots . Look up Venous Insufficiency on a medical site, it will give you more information. I just had surgery to correct this problem..it is serious so please see a doctor.
Reply:it doesn.t matter that you drank anything except for water, all those liquids contain water in them, just w/all those additives...

don.t you think you just answered ur own question?
