Pointe shoes! Grishkos?

I have been reading about how pointe shoes only last for a few weeks, maybe 1 or two months. this is really expensive! i have not taken pointe in a long time, so i am looking for a pair of pointe shoes to buy. Don't know which brand. I have a long big toe and the rest of my toes are much shorter. I have a high arch and am a beginner. I think because i have a high arch, i need a hard shank, but I am not sure. Please help me!! I dont want to buy the wrong pair. Also, I live in Woodland hills, in the LA area, do you know of a store that sells more than one brand of pointe shoes?

Pointe shoes! Grishkos?
I have bloch and they are really good for beginners,

and when you say pointe shoes usually only last for a few weeks that would usually be for the more advanced dancers because of the many hours and advanced dances they must do. But because you are a beginner you shouldnt be doing too much dancing on your toes yet meaning that they should last MUCH longer than a few weeks.

my friends first and second point shoes lasted for one year each!
Reply:im a dancer, and a girl in my dance class has grishkos. they look good on her because she does not have that great of feet naturally so the shoes help it look better. if you have a good arch already you could probably get anything and be ok. i have a narrow foot and i use bloch suprimas. hope this helps
Reply:I use Grishkos myself and have used them from when they first came out. My First two toes are the same length and the rest are much shorter. I have no arch(flatfooted) and I have been doing pointe for the last four years. I live in New York and I usually go to either Capezio or Sansha for my pointe shoes. Dont try to figure it out on your own, have a professional fit you so the fit will be perfect and if you find a type you like stick with it.

Good Luck!
Reply:people that say dance shoes last that long dance like 6 times a week and are usually pros my pointe shoes last 4-6 months i do pointe twice a week when i first started pointe i used prima soft royale i have the higghest arch in the class and they come in different shanks they have different sized boxes i really liked them go to a place where they will fit you
Reply:I find Grishkos are harder to dance on because the box is less squared and more pointy. I really like Blochs because the box is very squared and easy to stand on. they also fit my feet well.
Reply:Well, I have a few girls in my class that have Grishko's. They have slender feet and tapered toes. I believe that the 2007 model is the best for those types of people. I just started pointe this year, so I am also a begginer. And I only do 45 minutes a week, so mine should last about three months. If you have very wide feet (like me) Russian Pointes are amazing!!!! I hope this helps! From one dancer to another, Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!
