What would cause my toes to go numb/achey/tingly?

Well, I recently started working again, doing the same type of work I did before I graduated, being a cashier. I'm 18 and never had a problem with sore feet before, even working all day long but the dress code at the store I worked at before was laid back and I got to where any type of shoe except flip flops. The dress code for this store requires black shoes and the only ones I have are heels and I tried that when I was training and that made it happen, then I started to where these black boots my fiancee have, that are too big and bulky but feel comfortable when I put them on... They do the same thing, just not as quickly as the heels. Its the kind of soreness that taking off the shoe doesn't help, they ache up to two hours before it goes away. Very intense and my two big toes on both feet are the last things to stop hurting, they kind of feel numb/tingly and hurt, but I can still feel them...It just feels awkward. I know I should get proper shoes, but could that be all it is?

What would cause my toes to go numb/achey/tingly?
If you are going to be on your feet alot like this, you need to get to the shoe store and buy some good shoes to support your feet properly. It sounds like the circulation is being cut off.

You may also be developing arthritis so it might be a good idea to go to a podiatrist and have them check your feet so if there are any problems, they can be addressed before things get worse and you need surgery.

You might need to take something for the arthritis like Aleve (with food) or something stronger prescribed by the doctor if that doesn't work well.

Another thing you can do is buy a foot bath and soak your feet in very warm water when you get home ~ or you can soak in the tub with very warm water so your feet and legs benefit. I used to fill the tub with very warm water and when it cooled off, I'd drain some of the water and then slowly add hot water to heat it again. If you are lucky enough, have someone put lotion on your feet and massage them after you have soaked. Talk about heaven on earth when you hurt :)
Reply:Could be a number of things. The most likely I'd guess because of your age and assume you are healthy is just being on your feet. Its easy for your blood to get down to your feet but being on them all day, its difficult to get the blood back up. We have tiny pumps in our leg veins for this very thing.

First try wearing support hose, or better yet, try buying and wearing TED socks you can find at Walgreens. You should feel relief the first day but give it a few days to a week or sooner if they dont give you relief. Then go to the doctor.

You can get decent shoes at a thrift shop. I'd look there for better shoes.

Good Luck.
Reply:You are describing ischemic pain - pain caused by lack of blood to your extremity. Something about the way your are standing combined with the shoes is cutting off blood to your feet. That is bad, I would find a different combo - either new shoes or make sure you move around frequently.
Reply:they aren't worth the pain=get to a shoe store and buy yourself a good pair of walking shoes =It will be well worth the money=good luck
