Hi,

Warts are caused by a virus and are extrememly difficult to treat. I do not recommend cutting out burning out warts, especially if they are on feet as it is very painful! You have a few options:

1. Use duct tape. Studies show that this treatment is as effective as chemical irradication of warts; however it can be a chore. Cut a small piece, a bit bigger than the wart and apply it to the wart. Keep it there for 6 days. If it falls off, reapply a fresh piece. On the 7th day, soak the foot in soapy water, file the wart with emery board, and reapply a new piece of duct tape. Repeat the cycle until the wart goes away.

2. Ask your health care provider to freeze your wart with liquid nitrogen. Treatments are necessary every 10-14 days to be effective. The nitrogen available OTC is not as cold as what is used in drs' offices, thus it is not effective.

I use in my office cantharidin, an extract from a beetle. It is a blistering agent and I find it very effective in wart treatment. However, it usually takes several treatments every 10-14 days to see effects.
Reply:A wart on the foot is a plantar war, it is a virus. It can spread. There are OTC that freeze the wart but are expensive and take lots of time. Having had multiple ones orf varying size, I learned go to see a doctor and have it "burned" off right the first time with no chance of infection or spread.

Until it is gone, do not have a pedicure or you could spread it to someone else.
Reply:Some people have success with slathering the feet with Vicks VapoRub %26amp; then putting on heavy socks overnight. There are no guarantees , but its a cheap treatment %26amp; it can't hurt you...if it doesn't work, you should see a podiatrist or dermatologist...
